Request File Copies or Public Records

NEVADA PUBLIC RECORDS ACT (NRS 239) AND COMPLIANCE PROCEDURE FOR THE NEVADA DIVISION OF WATER RESOURCES
The Nevada Division of Water Resources is committed to providing access to public records in accordance with Nevada Revised Statute Chapter 239. All public records, the contents of which are not otherwise declared by law to be confidential, shall be open for inspection or to obtain copies.
PERMIT FILES
If you are seeking a copy of a specific permit, including an application, certificate or map, you can submit a request using the copy request form
You may also come to the Division offices in Carson City in person and review the permit file and request copies of any documents within that file. Appointments are encouraged. Please call 775-684-2800 to schedule an appointment.
OTHER RECORDS OF THE DIVISION AND STATE ENGINEER
If you are requesting records other than a permit file, please use the public records request form. Use of the form is not required, but will expedite the response to your request because it provides all of the information needed for the Division to respond to your request.

Whether you are requesting a copy of a permit or another public record, you may submit your request in three ways:
  • In person;
  • By mail, e-mail, or fax; or
  • Over the telephone.

FEES FOR PUBLIC RECORDS
Nevada Revised Statute § 239.052 states that a government entity is permitted to charge a fee for the actual cost incurred in the provision of a public record. This includes, without limitation, the cost of ink, toner, paper, media and postage. Please refer to the copy request form for the current fee schedule.
